“I am thrilled to announce that Reality Winner has been released from prison,” She went on to say. “She is still in custody in the residential reentry process, but we are relieved and hopeful.
“Her release is not a product of the pardon or compassionate release process, but rather the time earned from exemplary behavior while incarcerated.”
She was in prison facing a 63-month sentence after pleading guilty but got out in half the time on good behavior.
Reality winner worked at the NSA Agusta Georgia field office when she took the classified documents on Russia and the 2016 Presidential election. She claims she snuck the documents out in her pantyhose in may of 2017. She later leaked that information to a smaller news network called the Intercept.
A Bureau of Prisons website states that Winner is currently located at a reentry facility in San Antonio. Her release date from the facility is listed as November 23, 2021
THE DOJ INVESTIGATOR:
John Demers, a top Justice Department official who oversaw the leak investigation will depart the DOJ in two weeks. A Justice Department spokesperson said Demers’ departure was planned before Winners planned release.
