Trump Loses Bid to Shield January 6th records from the House Committee Probe.

• President Trump attempted to block the January 6th committee from obtaining documents related to the Stop the Steal Rally.

• A federal judge on Tuesday sided with the January 6th committee by refusing to block the release of a slew of White HOuse documents from the Trump White House.

• Judge Tanya S. Chutkan of the US District Court for DC appointed by Obama made the ruling that the first batch of documents be turned over to the committee by Friday.

• The Judge said in her ruling – “The court holds that the public interest lies in permitting…the combined will of the legislative and executive branches to study the events that led to and occurred on January 6, and to consider legislation to prevent such events from ever occurring again,” Chutkan also call January 6 in her opinion an “unprecedented attempt to prevent the lawful transfer of power from one administration to the next.”
She added, “for the first time since the election of 1860, the transfer of executive power was distinctly not peaceful.”

• Trump’s lawyers quickly filed an appeal.

• Trump’s spokesperson had this to say –

• In a statement, Rep. Bennie Thompson, head of the January 6 committee, praised the decision and called Trump’s court actions “an attempt to delay and obstruct our investigation.”
“This decision affirms the importance of the Select Committee’s work to get answers for the American people, recommend changes to the law to strengthen our democracy, and help ensure nothing like the attack of January 6 ever happens again,” the Mississippi Democrat said. “The Select Committee’s investigation is moving forward swiftly, and we look forward to receiving these important records from the National Archives.”
