The President says his tough tactics have been paying off when it comes to trade with other countries and he expects Congress to sign off on rewriting the NAFTA deal with Canada and Mexico.
Trump announced he would no longer raise tariffs on Chinese imports and said his threats have been working in favor of the U.S. from Mexico and Canada.
The President said this during a White House meeting, “Every time we had a problem, we just said, ‘Ok, don’t worry about it, we’ll just put the tariffs on,’ and they said, ‘Ok, we’ll sign.”
The President has now left it up to Congress to approve the deal.
