Senator Lindsey Graham announced the Senate Judiciary Committee he leads will hold a hearing on March 26 on gun control laws.
Graham said the hearing will be focusing on giving authorities increased ability to confiscate guns from individuals deemed dangerous by a court.
The mass shooting in Parkland, Florida sparked the “red flag” laws to be introduced but never passed.
The Republicans are holding this hearing which is way out of their spectrum but they can see the issue among the country with ill people with guns.
Senator Chris Murphy wrote to Graham to urge him to focus on universal background checks when purchasing a gun and 37 Democrats signed the letter.
“I haven’t really looked at the House package, but this is, to me, the area where we can come together,” Graham said about the “red flag” hearing.
