Democrats running against the democratic socialist, Bernie Sanders, set in stone that he is a weak candidate running against Trump because of his socialist views.
Sanders has already raised $6 million on his first day of “Feeling the Bern” campaign.
Opponents do not see him as a threat but many supporters do believe he has a chance and his label will not do any real harm.
Bill Press, talk show host, says ,”After he’s done talking about a $15 minimum wage, Medicare for all, and free college tuition, everybody wants to be a democratic socialist.”
Larry Cohen had this to say on Bernie, “he doesn’t just speak to Democrats. He speaks to literally millions of people that are unaffiliated. And he’s really talking about what we should aim for and where we can build a consensus.”
When Kamala Harris, a democratic opponent, was asked what she was required of to win the Granite state she said,”I will tell you I am not a democratic socialist…not everyone has an equal opportunity and access to a path to success.”
Republican National Committee spokesperson, Michael Aherns, said,”Bernie Sanders is a self-avowed socialist who wants to double your taxes so the government can take over your health care.”
Basil Smikle, former Hilary Clinton aide, spoke on candidates running for 202o, “Democrats in their primaries will likely focus on who can reclaim much of the Obama coalition and be able to go toe-to-toe against Trump rather than be dragged into a long policy debate on socialist versus capitalist agendas.”
