Ocasio-Cortez, a democratic socialist from New York, became defensive over the way socialism was portrayed in Trump’s State of the Union speech.
The New York Congresswoman described Trump’s comments about socialism as “fabulous” and said he “has no substantive proposals to counter.”
“I thought it was great. I think he’s scared,” when asked about Trump’s remarks. ”He sees that everything is closing in on him and he knows that he’s losing the battle of public opinion,” she then added.
Ocasio-Cortez then went on to give her opinion on Trump’s State of the Union speech.

She also replied to a tweet by Author Peggy Noonan whom insulted the Congresswoman’s actions that night.
Why should I be “spirited and warm” for this embarrassment of a #SOTU?
Tonight was an unsettling night for our country. The president failed to offer any plan, any vision at all, for our future.
We’re flying without a pilot. And I‘m not here to comfort anyone about that fact. https://t.co/7bu3QXFMnC
