Los Angeles county will enact a rule requiring individuals to provide vaccination proof for indoor and outdoor venues.
County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer spoke to the board of supervisors on Wednesday about the new health directive going to effect Friday.
Ferrer said indoor portions of bars and wineries and nightclubs would require proof of vaccinations for customers and employees along with events of more than 10,000 people for now but will move on to restaurants soon. Vaccination requirements for indoor venues will begin on Oct 7th but will only require people to have the first dose, but by Nov 4th, you must be fully vaccinated.
The Directive does give an option to show a negative COVID-19 Test 72 hours before entering the establishment if a person is not vaccinated or refuses a vaccine.
Ferrer said in a statement – “This modified health officer order aligns with the continued need to reduce risk of transmission and increase vaccination coverage,” She went on to say, “This is a reasonable path forward that will position us to be better able to break the cycle of surges.”
