House Members Urge Trump to Declare a National Emergency

Republican representatives Andy Biggs from Arizona, Matt Gaetz from Florida, Jim Jordan from Ohio, and House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows from North Carolina all wrote a letter to President Trump urging him to do anything to put more security to the border wall funds.

The conservative lawmakers argue the bipartisan border deal does not provide enough funding to secure the border.

“Thank you for your leadership efforts to protect our border. The conference committee deal is bad,” and “It will not secure the border and will allow criminally violent aliens to be released into our country. And, in fact, there may be additional problems with the proposed deal.”

They also added this to the letter, “If you feel the need to sign the legislation we also urge you to immediately use your authority pursuant to access funds to begin building a much-needed border wall.”

Their greatest concerns is they believe the border deal is not enough to “provide support for the counter-drug activities or activities to counter transnational organized crime.”

The bill was released on late Wednesday night and to be voted on Thursday evening after its expected passage in the upper chamber.
