The President is facing heat from Republican Senators over his decision to declare a national emergency for his border wall. When Republican Senator Paul, form Kentucky, said he would oppose Trump’s declaration it ensured there would be a resolution blocking in the Senate.
Senator John Kennedy said that the President should use his very first veto, if used, wisely because it will cause a bigger stir in the caucus than it is now.
Kennedy said, “I do think he is probably rethinking the situation.”
“I don’t think the president has the votes on a straight-up vote to sustain his position. Now, if the Senate says, ‘Mr. President, you don’t have the authority,’ as the House did, I expect the president to veto it, and we will be right back to where we are now,” Kennedy added.
Senator Lamar Alexander took initiative to ask the President to reverse the emergency declaration and instead use transfer authorities that are already granted to him to find money for the wall.
The voting in the Senate will happen on march 15th.
