Democrat lawmakers continue advocating for Illegal Aliens to qualify for $1200 stimulus checks due to coronavirus.
The $2.2 trillion CARES Act, in its current form, does not allow individuals who filed taxes for 2018 or 2019 using an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) to qualify for a stimulus check. Many Illegal Aliens use an ITIN to file income taxes in place of a Social Security number.
Reps. Grijalva of Arizona, Lou Correa of california and Judy Chu of California have introduced a new bill called the Leave No Taxpayer Behind Act, which would amend the coronavirus stimulus bill to allow every taxpayer to receive a $1,200 stimulus check, including Illegal Aliens who filed taxes with an ITIN.
President Trump has not commented directly about this new bill being introduced by the Democrats but perhaps at today’s Press Briefing he will make a comment LIVE
This is what the democrats had to say:
By casting out immigrants, we are placing some of our most vulnerable residents in grave danger. Every individual taxpayer, irrespective of citizenship status, needs government assistance now. This bill makes sure they will get it.

COVID-19 does not care about your immigration status, so neither should our response. My legislation will prohibit discrimination when accessing COVID-19 relief programs and get economic assistance to all families—regardless of their immigration status. https://t.co/wcbQb7GNbX

To survive this crisis we need to 1) contain the coronavirus and 2) make sure all workers get support they deserve. For this to work, we can't discriminate against immigrants. My bill, HR 6437 will ensure access to healthcare w/out punishment & food/cash benefits to all taxpayers
