A Powerful 7.1 Magnitude Earthquake Shook Mexico City on Tuesday, Causing people to Panic and Flee Buildings in fear of collapsing Infrastructure. This Quake comes on the Anniversary of the 1985 Earthquake that caused Major Damage to the Mexican Capital

When: The Quake happened today 9-19-17 at Approx. 11 am Local Mexico D.F time. measuring magnitude 7.1 according to the US Geological Survey (USGS) though Mexico’s seismological agency estimated its preliminary magnitude at 6.8 and said its centre was east of the city in the state of Puebla. That municipality is about 40 miles southeast of the capital.

2nd QUAKE: This is the Second Earthquake in the last Month- devastating 8.1 magnitude trembler that impacted off the coast of Chiapas. That event killed at least 61 people, and left devastation primarily in the souther Mexican states of Chiapas and Oaxaca.
AFTERSHOCKS AND RELIEF: The USGS estimated that there were at least six aftershocks exceeding a 5.0 magnitude after the 8.1 quake earlier this month in Chiapas. An estimated 1.85 million homes lost power after the initial shock wave, but 74 per cent of those homes saw services restored within hours.
