The Biden DOJ announced that it would challenge the new Abortion law in Texas, but meanwhile, they are vowing to help women violate the law taking the challenge more radically.
In a press release, Attorney General Merrick Garland said that his department would explore every legal avenue at their disposal and explore “all options” as they seek to challenge the new abortion law. Also, stating that they will even help women violate Texas law upheld by the Supreme Court.
Garland said in a statement, ” The department will provide support from federal law enforcement when an abortion clinic or reproductive health center is under attack. We have reached out to U.S Attorney’s offices and FBI field offices in Texas and across the country to discuss our enforcement authorities.” Garland went on to say, ” We will not tolerate violence against those seeking to obtain or provide reproductive health service; physical obstruction or property damage is a violation of the FACE Act.”
WHAT IS THE FACE ACT?
The New Abortion ban was signed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and was backed up by the Supreme court in a 5-4 decision on Wednesday. The law places an effective ban on almost all abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected, usually after the sixth week of pregnancy.
