South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem sued the Biden Administration for denying a permit to hold a fireworks display at Mount Rushmore for Independence Day.
Ian Fury, a spokesperson for Governor Noem, confirmed with reporters that she has officially filed the lawsuit. Noem said in the lawsuit: ” Mount Rushmore is the very best place to celebrate America’s birthday and all that makes our country special.” she went on to write, ” We are asking the court to enjoin the DOI’s denial of the fireworks permit and order it to issue a permit for the event expeditiously.”
Golden State Times Reported back in March that the Biden Administration had scrapped plans to hold a fireworks display at the monument, citing that it was offensive to “some” “People” and citing that COVID 19 is also an obstacle.
Mount Rushmore is the very best place to celebrate America’s birthday and all that makes our country special. Unfortunately, the Biden Administration cancelled our Mount Rushmore Fireworks Celebration.
So we're suing them to get the fireworks back. (1/) pic.twitter.com/MhzIj6DXeH

FIREWORKS AT MOUNT RUSHMORE:
Last Year even in the middle of a Pandemic, The Trump administration held a fireworks display to celebrate America where the former President also delivered a speech to the American people; it had not happened at the monument since 2009, citing that the event was a wildfire threat.
The Governor has vowed to do everything in her power to pressure the Biden White House to approve the Permit so the festivities can go on as Planned. Her office said in a release: ” She will do everything in her power to ensure that we celebrate America’s birthday with fireworks at Mount Rushmore.”
