Biden’s DOJ is suing Greg Abbott and Texas over their latest crackdown on Illegal Immigration.
Attorney General Merrick Garland accused Texas of trampling on the Federal government’s right to catch and release illegal aliens and reiterated that Abbott rule is unenforceable against federal agencies and contractors.
The suit was filed on Friday amid Governor Greg Abbotts’ latest attempt to fill gaps in the border using a policy that allows state troopers to stop and turn back vehicles carrying illegal aliens.
Biden’s DOJ is seeking a temporary restraining order to gain an immediate halt to Abbott’s new policy, which the Texas Governor said was designed to curb COVID-19 by Aliens as they attempt to break into the United States.
The governor said in a statement on Friday:
“Until President Biden and his administration do their jobs to enforce the laws of our nation and protect Americans, the state of Texas will continue to step up to protect our communities and uphold the rule of law,”
The Republican governor lashed out at Biden when he heard the news by the DOJ saying that this crisis they see at the border was caused directly by Biden and his Administration. The governor blamed Biden for failing to deter illegal migration and was unable to curb the spread of Coronavirus in Texas brought in by the Aliens.
Border patrol has acknowledged the problem, but they released over 9,000 illegals just last week with no court dates or information on who they released or where they are headed. According to CBP, 100,700 illegals have been apprehended this fiscal year in the Rio Grande Valley region.
Abbott signed an order to allow State Troopers to arrest illegals crossing the border on trespassing charges, but his order did not apply to federal employees from CBP or ICE. Still, troopers can stop contractors if they believe they are aiding, transporting, or abetting illegal aliens. Abbott was also mauling the possibility for Texas national guard to also arrest and assist troopers in apprehending immigrants.
